Join author Bala Jaison Ph. D. for an introduction to her latest book INTEGRATING EXPERIENTIAL AND BRIEF THERAPY: How To Do Deep Therapy - Briefly and How To Do Brief Therapy - Deeply. Bala will be available to discuss her book, presentation and ideas at the conference. About The Book: This is a thorough and clearly written tool-book for therapists and counsellors illustrating the integration of long-term Experiential and short-term Brief therapies. The author highlights the "integration spots" throughout, showing very specifically how the two approaches can be woven together easily and seamlessly. Using Focusing Oriented and Solution Oriented Therapy as guidelines, the author demonstrates through clear teaching and specific case examples: •How the models are similar, different, and compatible •How to use the language of each model effectively •Which models work best when, and what to do when you don't know what to do! •How to give the depth of experiencing to a client in a brief, positive, solution-oriented way. The numerous case examples show the parallel structure of the two approaches and demonstrate explicitly, how, by the simple changing of a word, a session can take a turn in the most effective way for clients. What people are saying: "I love your book! At first sight it looked so simple to me (just like Focusing itself does), almost too simple. But it is brilliant in its simplicity, clear, accurate, showing exactly where the two approaches meet, differ, and cross." Dr. Erna de Bruijn, M.D. The Netherlands "The book is like a breath of fresh air - readable, concrete, and immediately applicable. A terrifically accessible tool - direct, simple, and humourous. It really works...I particularly appreciate how you have embodied these two seeming disparate practices, into a workable and powerful whole that makes sense." Karen Whalen, Ph.D York University, Toronto "Family medicine practice and training has come to rely on brief psychotherapy strategies as a method for family doctors to accommodate a large volume of patients who are in immediate need. This integrative manual is timely, clearly written and practical in its application. I have come to rely on this valuable resource in my own practice and in the training of other physicians and residents." Pauline Pariser M.Asc. M.D. C.C.F.P. Toronto, On.
